I’ve gone back to this moment 1000 times 💕💐💕 The house smelt like the best of maple syrup & endless field of fresh flowers. Here’s what really made this special though…After building all of these bouquets (until 1am), the bride-to-be stayed longer to make sure one extra bouquet was made. A bouquet designed specifically for another KH guest. A guest that was here celebrating her birthday - surrounded by friends & loved ones - and also a guest whom she’d never met. The very next morning (aka: her wedding day), the bride’s first question to me (like Christmas morning) was…did the birthday girl she see her flowers yet? 😭💕😭💕 I continue to replay her excitement and pure heart for celebrating & loving someone she’d never met. 😔 I truly wanted to love this recipe remake so bad! Let me start by saying, I heart bacon. It’s my favorite food group. Period. So, any recipe with bacon immediately has my heart and moves to the front of the line. This weekend we tackled a #puffpastry special request via messenger from @the.mrs.dyess 😘 Since the recipe only has three ingredients I felt like we couldn’t go wrong. Well, we did go wrong. It all went wrong 🤦‍♀️😂. Joe had an initial list of concerns related to the temps, instructions, even cooking, etc. - none of which crossed my mind. “There are no signs of reoccurrence” ~ ❤️ my @mdandersoncancercenter care team.  There are truly no better words spoken. 🙌🏻 Today, as I celebrate the gift of my health, I want to equally acknowledge this unique journey of mine. The one that has been a major contributor in shaping this most recent season of my life. The one that ultimately led us here. So, here it goes… Before the results are read, these visits are never easy for me. At least, they aren’t yet. I want to say I boldly & confidently walk through the doors for my appointments. I want to say I have a nonchalant posture with a mindset that I’m ‘just’ having a follow-up, I’m ‘just’ having labs, I’m ‘just’ meeting with my care team. I want it to be & feel as simplistic as ‘I’m just having lunch.’ But, the truth is I don’t feel any of those ways. It feels heavy. It feels sacred. It feels beautiful. It feels uncertain. It feels humbling. It feels isolating. It feels like a blessing. It feels sobering. In short, it’s full of all the feels.  The respect for the environment here is palpable. The compassion, love & fight for patients can be felt just by walking in the room. You are in the presence of the some of best in the world while at the same time surrounded by some of the illest. Beauty & pain can coexist. Positivity & uncertainty can coexist. This is a safe place where they do. You can have faith & joy and know your story has (& will) change without your consent. I feel it all each time I step back on campus - even while being immensely grateful.  I’m so proud of this journey. I’m grateful for a husband that allows me to feel & process without an ounce or judgement or diminishing my emotions. I’m grateful to my family & friends that have walked this journey alongside us and have never stopped encouraging & cheering. I’m grateful to be part of the @mdandersoncancercenter family and the lifetime relationships built there. I’m just so grateful for it all.  Today, I woke up with 100% confirmation that I don’t have cancer again. We’re more than a room with a bed…so much more 💕 This morning, with a table full of guests and a hot cup of coffee in my hand, I overheard everyone irrupt in laughter. As I sipped my coffee ☕️ tucked away in the kitchen corner, a table of strangers stared stories, belly laughed, and repeatedly asked, “can you please pass…the bacon 🥓& pancakes 🥞 , etc?” My heart ❤️ was so full it could have burst and my eyes welled-up with tears 🥹. As we later joined the conversation, Joe shared with everyone what had just happened. He said, “what makes all this worth it is seeing Tiffany clutch her heart - eyes closed and a beaming smile - as she hears you all laugh and carry on.” Cue more tears. I’ve always said, this home is so beautiful. It’s nice. It’s pretty. It’s spacious. It’s spectacular. It’s grand. It’s ALL the things. One EPIC sandwich, but I’m not sure it’s the right fit for breakfast😳. We recreated this masterpiece yesterday and it was everything I dreamed of…& more. Only downside was the feeling that I had consumed a massive dessert for most of the day 😂. This week we asked in our stories - is this breakfast or lunch? The response breakdown - 31% breakfast, 12% lunch, 15% neither, 42% both. After trying it, it feels more like a dessert rather than breakfast or lunch. If we can figure out how to do bite-size sandwiches, then it’d be super simple to serve as a fun addition to breakfast. What started as a personal New Year’s Eve / best champagne🍾 of my life journal 📸 morphed seamlessly into a 2022 trip down memory lane 🥹💕. As a business owner, it’s easy for life to become ‘the business’ and ‘the business’ to become life. The last three years have often felt more like ‘the business is life’. Three years ago today the ink dried on this endeavor that forever changed our lives! As the clock struck midnight on our B&B anniversary, we were in THIS moment. No water. Guests in the house. As the clock struck midnight, we were also surrounded by some of the best people with best hearts…collectively, THE best community. We laughed. We hugged. We grabbed a shovel. We assessed. 💕 You can do anything you want 💕 including, turning cake into French Toast 🥰 This might be one of the BEST breakfasts I’ve ever eaten 🥰 Granted, it probably has something to do with the sugar content, but let’s not digress. #successtip If you so happen to have leftovers of “buttermilk cinnamon streusel cake”, then turn that beauty into French toast! Here are the two versions we tried: 1. Dip slice of coffee cake in French toast batter then cook on buttered skillet. Cover in strawberries & fresh whipped cream. 2. Coat both sides of coffee cake in sugar 😳 (as shown here). Cook on buttered skillet until the sugar makes a golden crust. Top with fresh whipped cream & strawberries. The first version was good, but the 2nd version was exceptional!! I received an email this morning from a coach I’m working with, “Tiffany, I know how hard you work and how passionate you are...Just know this – you’re living your dream….sometimes it’s a bit scary but that’s part of the thrill 😊” He didn’t know today is my birthday AND level of #selfreflection is off-the-charts (as with most bdays or anniversaries). He didn’t know that as simple as it sounds, I needed those words. My thought, How are you #livingyourdream when you never dreamt it? My answer, It’s possible, but requires the surrender of everything. I’m so grateful to be standing here today, surrounded by my family, embraced by my friends, doing what I love, reminded of His faithfulness, and poured into in a way that only they could do. Not just nice words, but core-depth, heart-led, soul-filling words. They say if you love someone tell them, tell them why, tell them their impact, remind them of their best, love them hard. Oh, how we wanted this to be so good! We had a 97% “yes, I would eat this for breakfast” poll rating, but the final result was not what we were hoping 😔. That being said, I take full responsibility for not executing it well🤦‍♀️. In short, it appears I overcooked the eggs 🍳😳…by a lot. The overall salt content was too high for our liking. These are the scary moments…the ones that can crush you as a small business owner. The ones that birth the ‘what if’ storylines. The ones that introduce teardrops of fear which can easily drown you in doubts of your ‘success’ or ‘failure’. On the contrary, these are the exact moments that have carried a million blessings. When the banana bread loaf isn’t pretty (yeah, that was really a conversation), then you pivot. So, here’s our heart-shaped banana bread bites 💕so much prettier than the loaf 🍞🤦‍♀️ This incredible & easy recipe is from one of the best humans I know!! Baking Tips: I accidentally mixed the melted butter 🧈 into the batter vs pouring on top of the loaf - I must say that wasn’t a deal breaker. Can you ever really have too much butter?!? With a front-row seat, this precious one has been witness to my journey of becoming an entrepreneur. She's witnessed strangers make our home their home. Mrs. Virginia was here 💕 She lived down the street and was most often seen on her early morning walks, mowing her lawn, and caring for her garden. Mrs. Virginia was the ultimate creative with her countless mosaics and crafts. Many times I found her at our front door with cookies for guests. She was the ultimate storyteller and always ready for a chat. She was authentic, raw, and unapologetically herself. She also had a fearless faith. For me personally, she was #lifegoals In early 2021, the world lost what heaven called home. I never got to say goodbye, but this weekend I stopped by her home. The moment I walked in tears started to flow. My heart was broken remembering my short time getting to know her. By Dec 5 my mind had already raced through the month of December. The to dos, schedules, must haves, the lists, the lists…I mentally concluded how the month played out and the story I told myself was overwhelming. Joe always has a kind & gracious way of challenging unhealthy thoughts. He walked me through all the things and said, you can change this narrative at any point. So, I did. I intentionally stepped back from social media, ran back to my morning quiet time, restarted my daily gratitude list #10things, did some yoga, and spent 2 days on the couch watching Hallmark movies #truth. I have also spent the most beautiful time with our guests throughout the month - intentional time where the present is all that mattered. Today, I look back and am reminded that serenity most times has to be fought for. Intentionally chosen. Protected. A protection of your peace - @trentshelton. We didn’t have a plan for bringing back the communal table, no timelines, no bright ideas. The truth is our guests were the ones that decided for us. They decided, and I couldn’t have dreamed up a better result. So, as of June 2021, this beauty was full again. Full table, random conversation, people getting to know people…again. Fundraisers, donation drop-off locations, lawn care, Bella walks and so much more. @smithvillegeneralstorehome, the Smithville Chamber and locals galore stepped up to step in for Danne’s needs💗 2. Boutique grocery store owner, @linda.Schryver from @royaltomatomarket took to social media to brag on the business & events happening around town. From the @front_room_wine_bar to @golden_girlsboutique @smithvillegeneralstorehome to the farmers market ❤️ businesses loving businesses! 3. The crew at @riosocialhouse needed to attend an offsite event on Saturday. So, instead of closing their doors, Smithville locals Stevie, Tony from @carnelenta and Ashley from @itsagoodethingvintagestore stepped in to run Rio for the evening!!! Other businesses offering to run the show while the Rio team was away. With the help of First National Bank, the Smithville Knights of Columbus and the Dr George M Jones VFW Post 1309 Smithville Smithville VFW, and former mayor Mark Blute, new flags on the gravesides of fallen, but not gotten heros. This, in addition to their work with #ViVisVillage, all #stxgolfcartclub members have hearts of gold ❤️ ‘Rest’ today comes from knowing that - in this small, unassuming town - we’re surrounded by the absolute best!! ‘Rest’ today comes from believing there will be people who will show-up to stand in the gap for you.
